Numbering check: Choose a numbering fixture and click Compare visible and API numbers after Ready. Each note’s API display number should match its visible marker. Internal IDs do not have to equal visible numbers. Switch versions to compare the same fixture. No editing is required.
Double-click the first superscript reference in the body, then type EDITED . It should edit that note, not the document body.
Click back into the document body to finish editing, then click Inspect footnotes to see the current note contents. Reset before testing another action.
For deletion: place the body caret just after a reference. Press Backspace once to select the marker, then again to remove it and its note.
For insertion: choose the blank document, type a sentence, and right-click at the caret. If available, choose Insert footnote and type a note.
The original PR covers more than this small fixture. Cross-reference navigation, dense-page rendering, selection direction, and note-area deletion require separate checks. The insertion menu may differ between versions.
